ABOUT BUTOH:

Butoh (舞踏 Butō) is a form of Japanese dance theatre that encompasses a diverse range of activities, techniques and motivations for dance, performance, or movement. Following World War II, butoh arose in 1959 through collaborations between its two key founders Hijikata Tatsumi and Ohno Kazuo. The art form is known to “resist fixity”^[1] and be difficult to define; notably, founder Hijikata Tatsumi viewed the formalisation of butoh with “distress”.^[2] Common features of the art form include playful and grotesque imagery, taboo topics, extreme or absurd environments, and it is traditionally performed in white body makeup with slow hyper-controlled motion. However, with time butoh groups are increasingly being formed around the world, with their various aesthetic ideals and intentions.

Profesores:

Gustavo Collini é um dos professores mais solicitados no meio teatral, da dança, nas mídias audiovisuais de vanguarda e é referência da dança contemporânea japonesa Butoh, enquanto pioneiro na sua difusão na Argentina. É criador de obras para diferentes companhias de teatro e dança, em diversas partes do mundo. Formou-se no Japão com os mestres criadores do gênero – Yoshito Ono, Kazuo Ono, Akira Kazai – e por 10 anos ministrou cursos de Butoh no renomado estúdio ASBESTOS KAN, em Tóquio. Também estudou no Teatro Laboratório de Jerzy Grotowski (Pontedera, Itália). Atua hoje como diretor, ator, bailarino e professor, na Europa, América e Ásia.

O que é o Butoh?

Trata-se de um método cênico oriental que se originou no Japão nos anos 1960. Rompendo com a tradição milenar do teatro Kabuki e incorporando o anti-teatro ocidental na corrente do expressionismo alemão, cria uma estética e técnica pessoal que aponta para o resgaste e a amplificação da imensa riqueza interior latente em cada indivíduo, através do estudo do próprio movimento. Meditação ativa, treinamento para desenvolver a resistência, o tônus muscular e o relaxamento, o Butoh revela o espaço expressivo do próprio corpo.

Kazuo Ohno utilizava termos bastante sugestivos para a transmissão de seus conhecimentos aos seus discípulos, tais quais: o corpo morto – o qual sugere um corpo e uma alma vazia, livre, leve, sem empecilhos que o impeça de expressar-se. Aqui também está incluso a ideia do “olho de peixe” que lembra os olhos de um cadáver, sem vida e estático, porém, assim como o peixe, extremamente vivo e pronto para reagir, assim como deve ser o butoka; crazy dance, free style – referindo-se ao livrar-se de convenções que estipulam os movimentos do corpo e da mente, uma expressão pura, completamente concernente à peculiaridade de cada butoka; o passado, os mortos – segundo Kazuo, só somos hoje o que somos, graças aos nossos mortos; aqui está inclusa a ideia do zen budismo da transitoriedade das coisas, de que é necessário a morte para que haja a vida.

Como toda a arte que fica grafada nas páginas da história, o Butoh expressa o que é universal, expressa o que é o ser humano com a sua torpe verdade. Assim, tanto para o butoka quanto para aqueles que o vêem dançar, as máscaras sociais são arrancadas e a verdade de cada um é brutalmente desvendada causando, consequentemente, uma espécie de alvoroço interior que nos obriga a sair de nossas estaticidades e conformações em busca do nosso verdadeiro eu. Assim, se compreende o intento de Hijikata ao pretender o Butoh não como uma simples dança, mas como uma filosofia.

Silvia Nakkach, MA, MMT, Grammy® Nominated musician, composer, voice-culturist, and a recording artist. Named by Utne Reader magazine as one of 40 cutting-edge artists that will shake the art world in this new millennium. Silvia is a musician that has cultivated a voice that transports the listeners into the heart of devotion, a several times award-winning composer, former psychotherapist, and a leading authority in the field of sound in consciousness transformation, and the implementation of music to convey alternative realities that stimulate personal grow.

She is on the faculty of the California Institute of Integral Studies, in San Francisco, where she has designed the premier Certificate in Sound, Voice and Music in the Healing Arts established in an academic institution taught by master musicians, scientists, and pioneers in the emerging field of psychoacoustic applications and consciousness studies. Nakkach also designed the academic curriculum for the Focus on Sound in Healing Modalities as part of the Department of Integrative Health at CIIS.

Since 1988, she acts as the founding and artistic director of the Vox Mundi and the Mystery School of the Voice, a project devoted to preserving sacred musical traditions, combining education, performance, and spiritual service, with centers throughout the USA, Brazil, Argentina, India, and Japan. As an internationally accredited specialist in cross-cultural music therapy training, Silvia has pioneered the integration of chanting and the use of the voice with somatic and music psychotherapy, contributing an extensive body of original vocal techniques and that have become landmarks in the field of music healing.

Silvia holds Bachelors degrees in Education and Music Performance, and holds Masters degrees in Clinical Psychology, Music Therapy, and Music Composition from Mills College, Oakland, California. Her post-degrees studies include Psychoanalytic Psychodrama, Gestalt Therapy, Yoga Philosophy, Electronic Music and Music Centered Psychotherapy, among other formative and more than 30 years of studies and Tibetan Buddhist practices and Tai Chi Qi Gong.

Nakkach has been involved in clinical research in the areas of microtonal singing and uses of the voice to induce meditative states, and her albums are widely used in Hospices, Health Centers, and private practice. Her extended body of work has been integrated in a comprehensive curriculum of scientific vocal and sound and music healing applications known as The Yoga of the Voice, a training that offers international certification, and retreats worldwide. Silvia interest in vocal anthropology and indigenous music cosmology has led her to collaborate with renowned mystics and masters of Indian and South American shamanic traditions.

Her voice work covers an enormous amount of territory and for more than 30 years Silvia has been a disciple of the late maestro Ali Akbar Khan. Under his direction she studied Hindustani Classical Music, and continuous mastering the art of raga singing. Since 2002 till presently Silvia became also a disciple of Dr. Ritwik Sanyal (Varanasi, India) with whom she is studying the ancient classical art of Dhrupad Singing and Naad Yoga, that integrates subtle forms of sound and meditation.

In 1991 she completed her opera: Amazonia Insight that was performed internationally five times. Her classical training and trans-cultural sensibility ensure that intellect and simplicity are always present in her approach to voice and resonance. Her new new albums: Medicine Melodies and In Love and Longing (with David Darling) are the last of ten previous CD releases. Her first CD, Ah, The Healing Voice, is widely played in health care centers to create a healing atmosphere before and after surgical interventions.

She is a contributing author to various books, including Music and the Human Process, Music in Human Adaptation, The Transpersonal Consciousness, and Music Therapy at the End of Life. In addition to many published scholarly articles her book: Free Your Voice (2012) is available by Sounds True publishers. Nakkach is also a contributing author of Yoga and Psyche (2014) available through Cambridge Scholars Publishing.

She resides in the San Francisco Bay Area where she established The Voice Loft, an elegant and open environment devoted to present master classes and experimental concerts, expanding a creative community of sound and music practitioners. Silvia travels extensively offering keynote presentations and her original work with music, sound, and the voice, training students and teachers across four continents and many cultures.

Nos últimos anos integra sua pesquisa e prática nas áreas da música, dança e comunicação no trabalho intitulado Voz em Movimento (V.E.Mä), que reúne técnicas diversas de corpo, voz e expressão a serviço de uma investigação pessoal sobre a relação arte e espiritualidade. Seu campo de pesquisa e atuação tem sido nos últimos 25 anos a The Vox Mundi School of the Voice, sob a direção de Silvia Nakkach, M.A, MMT. É formada em piano e teoria musical pelo Conservatório Brasileiro de Música, e estudou dança com Boris Kniaseff, Gill Anthony, Graciela Figueroa, entre outros. Ministra cursos no Brasil e no exterior e é autora de uma opereta, cinco livros – entre os quais a biografia de Heitor dos Prazeres e da guia espiritual Baixinha, e de roteiros para documentários.
